Want to manually update your Google Nexus One phone? For those of you that can't wait for your Google Nexus One to automatically perform an update to the latest version there is a manual way. One of the main driving forces behind people wanting this is the fact that the Nexus One didn't come with multi-touch support from the factory, but with this update it does.
Steps: Update Google Nexus One Manually
1. Download the patch you want to manually install. (The link above is the newest one currently.)
2. Rename the ZIP file to "update.zip"
3. Copy the update.zip file onto your external storage (mircoSD card)
4. While you Google Nexus One is turned off, press the power button while holding down the trackball.
5. Select Bootloader at the menu.
6. Now select Recovery. (phone will reboot)
7. Hit Power button and Volume button simultaneously.
8. Select Apply sdcard:update.zip at the menu and thats it!
